2009 Summer Mission trip

1. Towel Ministry: Valle Crucis, NC June 2009 (Open to rising 10th graders and above)

This will be our 13th year to join with Towel Ministry, an outreach offering of the Diocese of Western North Carolina.  Towel Ministry is a wonderful mix of fellowship and reaching out into the rural communities of North Carolina.  We spend the week building relationships with families, fellow young Episcopalians, and with one another, and working together to rebuild homes, build handicapped ramps, paint and weatherproof homes.  The building efforts focus primarily on housing repair and refurbishment for the elderly and handicapped.

2. Honduras: San Lucas, San Pedro Sula – Limited space available

June 2009 (open to all ages, 16 and older)

This will be our 10th trip to Honduras (or more...we haven't kept count!).  We spend a lot of time at San Lucas, our companion parish, helping with repairs and projects around the church (including building a medical clinic, playground, benches, roofing, and other fun projects working together with folks in the community)  We also serve lunch to and eat with the community each day and spend lots of time with the kids as we continue to strengthen our relationship with the wonderful people of San Lucas.  We stay at Our Little Roses, a home for girls, and then travel each day to the church in a village outside San Pedro Sula.

3. Towel Ministry: Beach Towel, Swansboro, NC 2

July 2009 (open to all rising 9th graders and above)

Towel Ministry is a wonderful mix of fellowship and reaching out into the rural communities of North Carolina.  Beach Towel takes place in Swansboro, NC - right on the beach!!!  We spend the week building relationships with families, fellow young Episcopalians, and with one another, and working together to rebuild homes, build handicapped ramps, paint and weatherproof homes.  The building efforts focus primarily on housing repair and refurbishment for the elderly and handicapped.

4. Katrina Relief; Long Beach, MS

July -August 2009 (open to all ages, 16 and older)

This will be our 6th Mission Trip to Camp Coast Care in Long Beach, Mississippi.  We will continue to build our relationship with our partner parish, St. Patrick's in Long Beach and to help with the massive clean-up and rebuilding effort on the Mississippi Gulf Coast.  This is a wonderful opportunity to be in fellowship with people from all over the country and world and explore the many opportunities to help with cleaning up and rebuilding an area of massive devastation.

 5. Confirmation Pilgrimage destination- England

All youth participating in Confirmation Classes this Fall are invited to join us for our 3rd Confirmation Pilgrimage to England. We have already started the planning process for our Pilgrimage. The dates of the tirp will most likely be June 20-27, 2009.
