Christian Education
Jr. and Sr. High Forums are offered for grades 6 through 12 every Sunday morning in the academic year.
Confirmation and Baptism Prep courses are also offered; talk to Jenn or Fr. Merrow to find out more.
Junior High Youth Forums are for those in grades 6-8
and explore the catechism along with real life issues. We meet Sundays at 10:15am and are divided by grade between
the Vestry, Chapel and Lower Classroom.
Senior High Youth Forums are for grades 9-12 and meet
in the Youth Loft. We explore real life issues from the newspaper headlines, to rock and roll, to what's happening
in your life in the context of our faith. Meets every Sunday at 10:15am.
Confirmation Pilgrimages are offered, every other year, for those who have been recently confirmed. We travel to the UK to
see, first-hand, places intimately involved in, and surrounding the history of the Anglican Communion. Our next pilgrimage will be June 2009.
Food, Friends, and Fun
Sunday Evening Youth Groups meet most Sunday
nights for games, dinner, a little worship, and a healthy dose of fun. Sometimes we stay at church, other
times we head out on the road for bowling, skating, and mystery bus rides! Most of the time, Jr. High meets from 6-7:30pm; Sr. High meets 7-8:30pm and
both gathering include dinner!
Small Group Gatherings are
offered for all youth and meet throughout each month. Groups include Senior High Girls, Middle School Girls, 12th/11th
Grade Guys, 10th/9th Grade Guys, and Middle School Guys. Click here for more!
Pizza with a Purpose meets on the third Wednesday
of each month, from 7 to 8:30pm, in the Youth Loft. We'll spend a little time getting to know each other, talking about
God and life and other things that come up--and, of course, eat some pizza in the process! Click here for more!
Mission and Outreach
In addition to short outreach projects on weekends, the youth have an opportunity to go on several
multi-day mission trips (mostly in the summer)
Towel Ministry is a program that brings High School students together with families who need a helping hand.
This year, we are going on two trips in North Carolina; one to Valle Crucis, in the Appalachian mountains, and one to the Beach!
Katrina Mission Trips find older youth and parishioners travelling to the Gulf Coast of Mississippi to work with Camp Coast Care and St. Patrick's, our partner parish, in helping to work on rebuilding homes and lives of our brothers and
sisters in the Hurricane Katrina Flood Plain.
Honduras Mission Trips are parish-wide trips that go to Honduras. Older youth join together with people from across the
parish to build relationships with our companion parish in San Pedro Sula, St. Lukas, and Our Little Roses Orphanage for Girls.
Outreach Camp is a week-long day-camp for our
middle school folks that focuses on the need for mission within our local community. We spend the week in hands-on learning by
spending time on Capitol Hill, at a Guide-dog training facility, food pantry, gleaning, at the free clinic, and we always
end with a surprise day of fun.
Heifer Project Mission Trips go to Perryville, Arkansas, the site of the Headquarters for Heifer, International. Offered to youth of all ages, we work on the ranch, learn about sustainable agriculture, and get to experience a taste
of what life is like in the third world. We hope that our next trip to Heifer will be in 2008, check back for more details.
Road Trips and Special Events
The Ski Trip happens every spring, usually
in February. Check the website and other publications for details!
Lock-ins are all-night events that usually happen
as the first event in the fall--pack your sleeping bag and get ready to party!
Diocesan Weekends happen once a year, in fall or spring, depending on one's age group. We head up to
Shrine Mont (if you haven't been there, put it on your list) on Friday afternoon, spend a weekend of Christian Fellowship, reunions with
friends from camp and other weekends, do a little nature appreciation, and eat some of the best food ever cooked. We
usually return by Sunday, mid-afternoon.
The Parish Retreat at Shrine Mont is a great chance for our parishioners in families, big and small, to get a chance to hang out, learn a little bit
about God and themselves, sing songs, sleep in, and worship, all in a relaxed, rural mountain atmosphere. The Sr. Highs
who go often have a house to themselves (with Youth Leaders).
